Ricciardo to Ferrari and beating Vettel would ALMOST make me cheer for Ferrari! I'm still of the opinion that when it all shakes out at the end of next year, McLaren will be the car Daniel needs to have for 2018, alongside Vandoorne.
But would McLaren dump Alonso for Daniel do you think?
Given the way Fernando has carried on during the last 18 months, and if they think Daniel can achieve then yes. Say what you want about Button, but he's at least been tactful and diplomatic when discussing the team & Honda in the media while Alonso has behaved like a Red Bull team principal! There comes a point where your past glories can't gloss over the fact you're an ass!
I think Dan's contract is not as iron clad like Marko/Red Bull says it is.
But as much as I despise Red Bull and would like to see him somewhere else I think he is better staying at Red Bull and drive the RB13 for 2017, The only offer he should consider would be Mercedes but that won't be happening. As for the like of Ferrari or McLaren, he would risk potentially going backwards as I think Mercedes and Red Bull will be the cars to be driving in 2017 IMO. Daniel will just have to get himself through this season more likely without a race win now and stick with Red Bull for a potential crack for 2017.
dogued , don't start me on Button! I can't be responsible for what I type!! McLaren know exactly what they're getting with Alonso. He screwed the team over in 2007 and lost two both championships because of his actions that year. But he can drive and he can develop a car. So McLaren have taken him again. You take Alonso, you know the package you're getting.
Button is a different animal. Just as political, just as selfish, more whingey and moany about the car I'd say. And also contributed to loosing the 2012 drivers championship ( for Lewis ) by being dog useless in the car and taking all the engineers to sort out his issues instead of them honing Lewis' car for the title fight. The difference? Button does it in a sycophantic way. And I find that more sickening than how Alonso goes about business.
There comes a point where your past glories can't gloss over the fact you're an ass!
Well Button seems to be living off past glories (a 4 month period in 2009). Why shouldn't Alonso - whos past glories are far greater!
He still presents to sponsors and media in a well mannered way. Besides, he's more of a knob than an ass! What I'm getting at is there comes a point where teams will dump a driver, no matter what they have achieved, once they start loudly and publicly insulting the team/suppliers/sponsors.
Is it just me or is Ricciardo starting to lose his cool? His comments reg the team after Monaco were scathing to say the least, and after Canada he mentions himself making mistakes "but also the team had their fair share", it's like he's referring to himself and the team as separate entities.
Is the pressure starting to get to him? When he was with Vettel he was Mr Cool since the expectation was for Vettel to easily beat him....and now the pressure is on his shoulders and it seems he's more concerned nowadays about where he is in relation to Verslappen. IMO he needs to address this mentality...it could easily damage his reputation very quickly, within the team and maybe in the paddock in general. He's got the talent to be the next multiple WDC and I hope he's got someone to address this issue quickly.
The last year McLaren won a race they still had Lewis Frikkin Hamilton. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why don't we ever hear people say, "I just don't like his lifestyle" when talking about this guy?
Anyway, Dani looks like he's seriously doing the LA scene over his August vacation. IMO no one other than perhaps Hamilton does a better job of promoting the sport outside of the circus "bubble" than Ricciardo!
When you are torn between choices, always pick the one that will make the best story. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I like Danni too. I can't think anyone could not like him. Top bloke! So this post is for all Danni Ricciardo fans , especially Frontrunner.
It's taken from an interview in August where he answered fan's questions. I can't write them all, there's loads, so I'll be selective.
Q:How did it feel to lose to Felipinho Massa? ( Hewas challenged to a patio cart race by Massa's six yr old son before Monaco GP) DR: Not as bad as losing Monaco.
Q: With the upcoming 2017 rule changes, doyou thinknRed Bill will be back at the top? DR: I bloody hope so. I think it will help us.
Q: Do you think you would look good in red? DR: Only if they are willing to dominate a world championship. Otherwise, no.
Q: Dude........ What's with your hair? DR: Hey Daryle Yarab from the USA ( interviewer) .........go f*** yourself!
Q: What's you favourite place in Australia? DR: Ooooooooh. I love home. I love Perth. I went to Byron Bay ( beach town outside Brisbane) this year. That was amazing, I loved that. So those are the two places.
Q: When did you acquire the nickname , 'The Honey Badger', and whi gave it to you? DR: My ( then) trainer Stuart Smith. He showed me a video on it and said, 'Dude, this animal's great." I thought it was awesome. Then he added that he thought I had a lot of the honey badger qualities. And I thought, ' yeah, I think I do.' So it started from there.
And my favourite question and answer.........
Q: Do you have any pets? If yes, what are they? DR: No I don't have any pets. I'm not really an animal person, but if someone wants to give me a pet honey badger then I wouldn't say no. Lewis walks into the paddock with his dogs and I'd love to walk in with a honey badger on a leash. That's my vision and my dream !
Still my favorite driver over at Red Bull. Who'd have thunk that after two years of bitch slapping Vettel as Red Bull teammates, he's still getting the subtle digs in.
"Seb gets a bit frustrated but it's probably been a bit more uncharacteristic this year," said Ricciardo, whose promotion to third place in Mexico sealed his third-place finish in the drivers' standings.
"It's probably been a bit too much."
"He has shown in the past he can be a bit emotional but this year it seems to be a bit more."
"He's obviously a bit frustrated by how the season has gone."
"He probably thought maybe Ferrari would have the chance to fight Mercedes and it hasn't worked like that."
